Discovery Services Procedures: Student Training

All student employees should have the basic ability to search for a book in the stacks. If your student cannot complete this exercise, you should go with them to find these books and explain how to find them.

All student employees should know how to properly handle and shelve the materials they work with on a daily basis. Every student should review and be tested that they retain the knowledge.

All student employees should know the basics of handling a book truck, whether or not they will be using one. You never know when we will ask them to move some.

This is important to review with your students so they understand how valuable they are to us.

Two student teams work together to answer and practice using the phone. One student will sit in the employee lounge and call the M & M Desk reading one of these questions. The student answering will practice: answering, hold, and transferring.
