DNP Orientation Library Exercise
This Word document walks you through using all the tools you'll need to make the best possible use of Library tools/resources as a DNP student.

NOTES ON THE EXERCISE:

When you open the document, it may look like A LOT. It's not. Most of the text are instructions on how to get to a resource/tool, then info about using it.
Every section asks you to go to a resource/tool, then gives you instructions to do something there, and either answer a brief question or provide a screenshot.
Some of the questions ask you to take a screenshot (a picture of what is on your screen) and paste it into the document; here are some tips/instructions in case you have never done that before:
- How to take a screenshot with a Windows PC
- How to take a screenshot on a Mac
- once you have your screenshot, paste it into the document by placing your cursor where you want the image to go, then either right click and choose a paste option OR use the keyboard to press [Ctrl+V for windows] [Command+V for mac]

When you are finished, email the completed document to Marissa Testerman, your Librarian (mtesterman@utep.edu) and Dr. Hector Morales, the DNP Program supervisor (hmorales1@utep.edu).

Note About Your Library Access

Dear New DNP Cohort:

Since your classes do not start until August, the Library's system does not have your student information yet.

This means that if you try to connect to the Library using the Library sign-on that pops up when you are not connected to GlobalProtect VPN, or any of the databases that require an additional sign-on all the time (UpToDate, Micromedex, for example) your username and password will not yet be recognized.

There are 2 ways you can address this; choose one:

Wait for your classes to start in August. By then, the Library will have received the information for new students and your username and password will be recognized.
Fill out this application form; one of our staff will process it in 24-48 hours, and your information will be in the Library's system, allowing you to sign in when prompted, and access certain databases without connecting to the VPN.
