KIN 3325: Research Methods in Kinesiology

The Process of Creating a Research Question

1. Choose a topic. Select a topic that is of interest to you, relevant to the assignment, and/or is significant enough to warrant research.

2. Find background information. Get an overview of the topic so that you can become aware of the key issues and specialized vocabulary. Look to see how the topic relates to other concepts.

3. Create a research question. Form a question that is relevant to your topic Think about other concepts or sub-topics that can help you narrow down your research.

4. Revise the question, if needed. After having searched through the literature, determine if your research question needs revising. If you are finding too little or too much information, you might need to consider revising your question.
