Congressional bills are legislative proposals from the House of Representatives and Senate within the United States Congress. There are eight different types of bills. There are numerous different bill versions that track a bill through the legislative process from introduction through passage by both chambers (enrolled version). All final published bill versions are available from GPO

This site contains all published versions of bills from the 103rd (1993-1994) Congress forward. The system is updated by 6 a.m. (EST) daily when bills are published and approved for release.

The Congressional Record is the official record of the proceedings and debates of the United States Congress. It is published daily when Congress is in session. This site contains Congressional record volumes from 140 (1994) to the present. At the back of each daily issue is the "Daily Digest," which summarizes the day's floor and committee activities.

NOTE: A new Congress begins at noon January 3 of each odd-numbered year following a general election, unless it designates a different day by law. A Congress lasts for two years, with each year constituting a separate session. A congressional calendar is an agenda or list of business awaiting possible action by the House or Senate.

Provides links to the schedule of hearings and committee meetings for the day. To track the status of a particular bill, select the link for “Active Legislation.” Bills are organized by popular name and subject. Though the tables that result include more information than simply the status of bills, a key at the bottom of the page identifies which bills did not pass, which are most currently being reviewed, and which affect currently enacted laws.

Filters are a convenient way to refine your search results by selecting additional search criteria from among those available in your initial result set. A filter represents a particular data field and displays all the values contained in that field.

lerts are emails sent to you when a measure (bill or resolution), nomination, member profile or committee profile has been updated with new information, or when your saved search has new or changed results.

The Secretary of the Senate is required to make all reports filed under the LDA, as amended, available to the public over the Internet.

As of 2018, the Congressional Research Service (CRS) provides public access to its reports, no longer requiring citizens to request them from their Members of Congress. This site is not affiliated with the Congressional Research Service, but aims to provide integrated, searchable access to many of the full-text CRS reports that have been available at a variety of different web sites since 1990 as well as converted print material.
