The Criminal Justice Student Society (CJSS) is a student organization, which strives to promote academic awareness and events for Criminal Justice majors and students interested in related academic fields of study. This group also assists in the networking of information related to Criminal Justice career opportunities and organizes educational experiences, such as trips, lectures, and tours in the hope of enhancing knowledge in the Criminal Justice field.

The Criminal Justice Department at UTEP is affiliated with the national American Criminal Justice Association known as Lambda Alpha Epsilon and is home to our local chapter – Lambda Epsilon Sigma. The Chicano(a)x Prelaw Society at UTEP aims to create a supportive community for all students who are considering a future in the field of law. This organization provides resources and guidance to help members navigate the pre-law journey, including information on law school applications, preparation, internships opportunities, networking opportunities, and mentorship. By fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment, the society seeks to increase the representation of minority individuals in the legal profession and promote diversity and inclusion within the field of law. Through various events, workshops, and collaborations, the Chicano(a)x Prelaw Society at UTEP strives to equip its members with the tools and support necessary to succeed in their pursuit of a legal career.

1. To improve criminal justice through educational activities.

2. To foster professionalism in law enforcement personnel and agencies.

3. To promote professional, academic, and public awareness of criminal justice issues.

4. To encourage the establishment and expansion of higher education and professional training in criminal justice.

5. To provide a unified voice for professionals in, and students of, criminal justice.

6. To promote high standards of ethical conduct, professional training, and higher education within the criminal justice field.
