MinerQuest is the easiest way to search as many of the UTEP Library's databases + its catalog at once. Results will include articles of all types, books, e-books, government documents, streaming videos, and encyclopedia articles. A good all-purpose search tool.

FINDING ARTICLES ON A TOPIC:

It is recommended that you use the Advanced Search option to find articles on a specific topic. Make sure to select “Articles” in the “Search for” menu bar and use Material Type “Articles”. This search will retrieve both magazine and journal articles.

Sample search: Find articles on global warming as it relates to greenhouse gases.

LIMIT TO SCHOLARLY (PEER-REVIEWED) JOURNALS (ALSO KNOWS AS ACADEMIC JOURNALS):

FULL RECORD FOR A JOURNAL ARTICLE:

First try performing a basic search for the article title and select the “Articles” option.

Sample search: Look for an article entitled “the brand report card”

If the record is for a journal article, it should contain the basic bibliographic information for a journal article: title of article, author(s), journal name, volume, pages, and year. If we subscribe to the journal, you will see full text availability information.

There are different ways to search for a journal title. Plugging the journal name in the main search box works, but may also pull up unrelated results. The Advanced Search template has the filter ”Material Type Journals” which helps access specific journals.
