Consumer Expenditure Reports

Step 1: Start at the Demographics Tab.

In the Report Type box (location: top), select from several report types:

  • CEX (Consumer Expenditure Reports) give you details by type of expenditure: apparel, auto, convenience store, electronics, food and beverages, healthcare, household furnishings, restaurants and shelter utilities.
     
  • Consumer Expenditure Comparison: This report provides total consumer expenditure for Current Year Estimates (CY), along with related household information. It also provides breakdowns by major expenditure categories.
     
  • Retail Sales Potential Comparison- This report compares the aggregate and average retail dollars spent by store type for the current year.
     
  • Simmons (these types of reports reflect the percent of households and their potential to purchase, use, or have certain consumer habits, on things such as: apparel, automotive, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cable TV, cleaning products, computer/internet, entertainment, financial services, food products, health and beauty, home furnishings, home improvement, household products, internet use, lawn and garden equipment, buying habits, medicine/doctors, pets, telecommunications and travel.

Step 2:  In the Enter Geography (city, state, zip, address, etc.) box, you can narrow this report down by geographic location, like a city.

You can enter your city and state into the search box, or...

Click on Geography Menu (the blue text).
From the popup window, select DMA state,
From the listings, find your state and click on the checkbox with the plus sign in it (not the blank checkbox). This gives you another listing, of cities. Select your city by finding it and checking the blank box next to it.  Click OK button to finalize.

You should now have your report.
