MinerQuest is what you use to search the Library's catalog, databases, and more!

With MinerQuest you can find:

  • Books
  • E-books
  • Full-text of journal articles
  • Image collections
  • Visual Media (streaming videos, dvds, etc.)
  • Government Documents

"Checking Out" Books

When you take something home from the Library, we don't say 'rent'; we say "check out."

To check something out from the Library, take it to the Access Services Desk, just past the scanners at the entrance.

Make sure you bring your Miner Gold Card (your ID card).

How to Find Books Using MinerQuest

Subject Search Terms

To do a more focused subject search use the classic catalog: https://lib.utep.edu and select "subject" from the left side bar.

The following search terms will help you focus in on your research:

Children's literature -- Authorship
Children's literature -- Awards
Children's literature -- Bibliography
Children's literature -- History and criticism
Children's literature -- Study and teaching
Children's literature, American
Children's literature, English
Children's plays
Children's poetry
Children' stories
Comic books, strips, etc.

[any subject] -- Juvenile fiction
[any subject] -- Juvenile literature

To search for YA Literature, substitute "Young Adult Literature" for "Children's Literature" in the search terms above.

Reserves

Professors and instructors will frequently put items on reserve for their classes. They may be found by searching the catalog, by either the class name or the name of the professor. The items may be checked out for an hour or for several days, depending on the item type. Reserves is located at the Access Services desk.
