Keeping Abreast of Scholarly Literature in the Sciences and Engineering

RSS Feeds

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.  RSS feeds send you updates on subscribed content, however only to the specific location where you subsribed.  If you subscribe to an RSS feed using Firefox on the Computer #39 of the lab next door, you will not get that feed anywhere else.   Not in Chrome on Computer #39, nor in Firefox in Computer #38.

If you subscribe using an RSS reader, however, you will be access your RSS feeds from other locations.

Email Alerts

Another way of getting content updates is with email alerts.  Email alerts are not as easy to subscribe to as RSS feeds are; email alerts, however, can be read whereever you can read your email.   Email alerts often require you to create a free account with the database to set up the alert.
