Citation Tracking

Besides tracking the impact factors for journals, academic institutions often rely on citation analysis for hiring, tenure and funding decisions.  Citation analysis investigates both how many times an article is cited and who is citing the article.

  • ISI Web of Science  -  Provides access to Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Arts and Humanities Citation Index. Includes a broad selection of prestigious, high impact, academic research journals as well as cited reference searching. Some citations include links to full text, based on institutional subscriptions. Coverage: 1975 - present (updated weekly).
  • Publish or Perish  -  Publish or Perish is a software program that retrieves and analyzes academic citations. It uses Google Scholar to obtain the raw citations, then analyzes these and presents the information in a variety of formats.
