Genealogy: Tools and Resources for Recovering the Past: Special Collections

This guide will assist students in locating genealogical information from both print and online sources.

What's Special Collections

On the 6th floor of the University Library is a collection of specially archived materials that include the

  • Chicano Collection,
  • Judaica Collection,
  • S. L. A. Marshall Military History Collection,
  • Southwest and Border Studies Collection,
  • as well as collections of art and rare books.

In addition to printed sources, the department has manuscript and archival collections available. There is also an oral history collection documenting the region.

The El Paso Public Library - Border Heritage Center has a large collection of genealogical records for El Paso, Cuidad Juarez, and the surrounding region.
