Personal Communication [6.20]

In-Text Personal Communication [6.20]

  • These include emails, memos, interviews, letters, telephone calls
  • Include the initial(s) of the person from the personal communication and then the surname
  • Provide the exact date
  • When quoting and paraphrasing, use and date and include personal communication

 

 

Examples of personal communication:

B. Smith (personal communication, June 12, 2010) reported, “Social work is an excellent field to become a part of.”

 

C. Morales (personal communication, July 9, 2010) noted, “Students…”

 

APA style citation may be difficult to master (L.R. Stevens, personal communication, May 3, 2010).

 

“When in doubt consult the APA style manual” (V.E. Rosemont, personal communication, June 2, 2010).
