UTEP Office of Research and Sponsored Projects

Vision:

The vision of the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) is to accelerate the research and sponsored program enterprise while adhering to university policies and federal regulations.

Mission:

The mission of the ORSP is to provide the following services:

proposal development assistance and training;
review and provide institiutional endorsement of all applications for external sponsored funding;
review, negotiate, and accept awards on behalf of the University;
compliance and post-award monitoring and oversight;
maintenance of sponsored project data for the University;
coordination of institutional review boards for research with human and animal subjects and for biosafety;
management of the University's intellectual property; and
promotion of entrepreneurial and commercialization activities.

W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation
Located at the University of Texas at El Paso, The Keck Center is home to state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing technology and a dedicated staff ready for any challenge, be it medical or mechanical. Research Institute for Manufacturing and Engineering Systems (RIMES)
RIMES was created in 1995 as the Institute for Manufacturing and Materials Management. We have recently renamed the Institute and it has taken the lead in focusing on the research and applications of Systems Engineering.
Regional Cyber and Energy Security Center
Our mission is to develop innovative technologies, security strategies, and deployment solutions while raising cyber security awareness throughout the Paso Del Norte region and beyond. Key components of this mission include development of innovative processes, testing and certification methods, education and training, and products and services to ensure secure deployment in the generation, distribution, operations, and customer domains.
FAST Center
The FAST Center strives to build partnerships between faculty, students, and clients that are productive and value added to all stakeholders. Through this collaborative process of multi-disciplinary research and learning synergy is created that benefits all participating parties.
High Performance Computing (HiPCEP)
High Performance Computing (HPC) is typically defined as computation that requires greater computing power than is offered by traditional desktop computers. Greater computing power can mean more processor cycles, larger memory, faster I/O, faster network transmission, or more sophisticated visualization capabilities.
Center of Excellence for Sharing resources for the Advancement of Research and Education through Cyberinfrastructure (Cyber-ShARE)
The Center concentrates specifically on the aspects of CI that deal with software and middleware services and tools, with the focus on the development of scientific CI applications and on training the next generation of scientists who can effectively use CI to perform leading-edge science.

Partnerships

Network for Computational and Nanotechnology (NCN)
The creation of educational tools disseminated locally at UTEP, through the NSF Network for Computational Nanotechnology nanoHUB.org website and the Apple store. The goal of this research is to enhance student expertise and student learning through the interaction of educational tools associated with fundamental circuit theory and semiconductor device modeling.
