University Library History

Please enjoy a bit of the University Library's history - the guide is still being updated to add more of our history as we located more photos and data.

The University Library opened in its current building on October 12, 1984. The building showcases traditional Bhutanese architecture, matching the campus design theme. The library's bright atrium displays a tapestry created by Buddhist monks from Thimphu, Bhutan's capital.

The library houses over 200 permanent artworks, including paintings by Tom Lea and more than 100 original drawings by Jose Cisneros. As a TexShare member, the library provides expanded access to resources across participating institutions.
