You can log in to Checkpoint EDGE through the Library Website or you may register for a Checkpoint EDGE Student ID (personal account)

• NOTE: Logging in through the Library Website does not give you access to personalized features such as notifications, folders, highlights, and notes.

Following are the steps to log in via the UTEP Library's website:

Step 1:  Go to the UTEP Library’s home page at https://www.utep.edu/library

Step 2:  Click on the “Databases” tab located under the “Library” heading

Step 3:  Click on the "C" to locate Checkpoint EDGE from the alphabetical list of databases retrieved

Step 4:  Click on “Checkpoint (Thomson Reuters/RIA)” to log in to the database.  

• NOTE:   From OFF-CAMPUS, the system will ask you to sing in with your "username" and "password", enter your user name WITHOUT the @miners.utep.edu. This is the same “user name” & “password” you use to access my.utep.

THIS IS THE SCREEN THAT YOU SHOULD SEE WHEN YOU LOG IN TO CHECKPOINT EDGE:

• NOTE:  Students can access the Checkpoint Edge database through the Library’s IP authenticated access (Library’s website) without needing a personal account. The personal account is just another way to log in to the database, and it gives you access to personalized features such as notifications, folders, flagged, and notes.

REGISTERING FOR A CHECKPOINT EDGE STUDENT ID:

• You must use your school-specific email address when registering; personal and work email addresses are not allowed
• To register for a Checkpoint EDGE student ID, go to  https://utep.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://cpreg.thomsonreuters.com

• The above link should work from computers located on campus and also remotely. 

• After the registration has been submitted, you will receive an email from Checkpoint EDGE containing the login instructions.

                The email is typically sent within an hour of the submitted registration

                If you haven’t received the email, check your junk/spam folder before submitting a new request

USING A CHECKPOINT EDGE STUDENT ID:

• To start using your Checkpoint EDGE student ID, go to http://checkpoint.thomsonreuters.com and enter the username and password listed in the email

• The first time you login, you will be prompted to change the password

                Username and passwords are NOT case sensitive

                Passwords must be 7-20 characters and contain at least one letter and one number

                Student IDs are computer generated and the username cannot be changed

• After the setup process has been completed, you will be able to log into Checkpoint EDGE from any location and device that has internet access (i.e. computer, tablet, phone)

EXPIRATION OF A CHECKPOINT EDGE STUDENT ID:

• Checkpoint EDGE student IDs are temporary and will automatically expire twice a year on 6/31 and 12/31
• If you already have a Checkpoint EDGE student ID but are unable to log into the system, this means your access has expired.  You will need to re-register using the steps outlined above to have your ID reactivated.
