Resources and ideas for celebrating Earth Day throughout the year and with the community.

University Library Growing Greener

  •  2578 journals have been converted from print to online saving 3550 feet of shelf space in the last 5 years.
  • The largest 15 indexes used 65 feet per year. Over an average of 10 years, 650 feet of shelf space has been saved.
  • 42,340 E-Books have saved approximately 4234 feet of shelf space.

The total space saving in the Library is 8434 shelf space or 35% of a stack section.

Publishers Weekly estimates that 1 tree yields enough paper for 62 books.  This means that the UTEP Library's conversion to online resources has saved about 1400 trees and will continue to save about 280 trees per year.
