UTEP Biomedical Engineering

Welcome to Biomedical Engineering. Biomedical engineers provide engineering solutions for major health challenges that will face our society in the near future. These professionals are actively involved in research and development work in all areas of medicine, from developing better prosthetics to improving cancer imaging to regenerative medicine. The continued advancement of medical technology and the many unsolved problems medicine suggest that biomedical engineers will continue to play a very important role in the development and evaluation of medical technology.

Goals:

  • Improve Human Health: Integrating engineering, biology, chemistry, physics and medicine.
  • Use engineering techniques: To better understand normal physiology and disease.
  • Design devices: To treat and diagnose diseases.

Degrees offered:  BME Minor, BME MS, and BME PhD.
